Introducing Lyocell Fabric

Lyocell is a cellulose fiber produced through dry jet wet spinning, using wood pulp as its source. Unlike rayon, another wood pulp-derived fabric, lyocell does not require carbon sulfide during its spinning process, making it an environmentally friendlier option.

Lyocell fabric can be either knitted or woven, making it versatile for various clothing items. Knitted lyocell is suitable for tops and t-shirts, while woven lyocell works well for shorts, casual pants, skirts, jackets, and more.

When used in t-shirts and tops, lyocell provides exceptional comfort, thanks to its softness and lightweight nature. It is also absorbent, making it ideal for sportswear.

Due to its more eco-friendly production, lyocell is considered a higher-priced, luxury product compared to regular rayon or viscose. Notably, renowned brands like Nike and Under Armour incorporate lyocell in some of their t-shirts.

The leading supplier of lyocell material is Lenzing in Austria, known for their brand ‘Tencel,’ produced exclusively in Europe. While the terms lyocell and Tencel are often used interchangeably, only Lenzing can officially label their product as Tencel, confirming its authenticity with a branded tag. However, lyocell from other sources can also meet high standards and is relatively more affordable.

For those interested in adding lyocell to their collection, it’s essential to consider a slightly higher price point due to its premium nature. Depending on fabric type, minimum order quantity, and delivery time, suitable options for ordering lyocell material can be explored.
